User Interface for Heart-Lung Machines

Overview

The Qonos flow measurement system was developed for the non-invasive measurement of volume flows in flexible hose systems. For this system, Eckstein Design has designed the user interface for displaying the flow measurement in medical and industrial applications, which impresses with its clear visualization.

The Challenge

Effective quality control plays a crucial role in ensuring the best possible results in technical fluidics. For example, non-invasive flow measurement in blood vessels takes over intraoperative control, documents the surgical result or monitors important parameters in extracorporeal circulation systems. The simultaneous and clear visualization of these parameters was the challenge for the user interface.

The Result

The Qonos Flow Measurement System combines the flow measurement technology required for modern surgery with simple operation. Navigation is intuitive via a touchscreen, allowing the user to make the necessary settings, enter patient data and complete the measurement in just a few steps. Up to four diagrams can be clearly displayed simultaneously. This enables intraoperative quality control and documentation of surgical/technical processes for optimal observation and assessment.

The Design

The bright color scheme and the light font style appear fresh, human and not too technical, creating a pleasant user experience. With the Qonos FlowLab, we rely on a minimalist structure and a clear design that is consistently reduced to the essentials. The user interface is designed down to the smallest detail so that the operation and design are coherent. This clarity means that even nursing staff and doctors under time pressure and in critical situations can quickly and clearly grasp complex clinical information, resulting in absolute error-proofing.
